Responsibilities

Compensation for the role is $23.66-29.84/hr

 

Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.   The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.  When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

Qualifications

Minimum Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent preparation and/or experience required. 
  • Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and staff both orally and in writing.

Minimum Experience:                                     

2 Years Medical Assistant experience or graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program required. Completion of phlebotomy course;

  • With at least 120 clinical hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena OR
  • 75 hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena with (1) year healthcare experience required OR
  • Five (5) years of continuous phlebotomy experience with the National Phlebotomy Certification required.
  • EKG experience required.

Required Certification/Registration: National Phlebotomy Certification required; Completion of AHA-BLS Healthcare Provider Course-Current and on-going required. CNA certificate preferred

 

Physical Requirements:  Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.  Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patient.  Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Visual acuity and color discrimination is required. Ability to communicate effectively and to comprehend conversation. Must have manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination. Must anticipate unexpected movements by patients. Capable of working assigned hours at varied times during the day or night. Alertness required during all phases of work.

                                                                                                               

Working Conditions:

  • Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well- lighted, heated or ventilated facility.  No routine exposure to hazards.
  • Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary. 

Normal Working Schedule

Variable inc rot. wknds & hols. PDMs must work 1 major & 1 minor hols per year & 4 wknd days (Sat or Sun) per every 3 mos.
